Hi all, long time reader 1st time poster.Gidday from Melbourne Australia.

I am rebuilding a 21' Fibreglass boat that was made in Western Australia 1986. I have had the boat for a year so any pics I post may have been taken then.
Originally my plan was for a quick refirb and to resell for a quick $ (thats about 87 cents to you).

I will go back in time later. at the moment I have just ripped the floor out and found the sub sections are all glass, no wood no rot!!

I need to raise the floor by 2". (due to can't read a tape measure alloy tank builders) this will not be a problem due to a freeboard height of 2 1/2' (750mm). My question is.
Can I use an alloy box section 2x2" x 1/8" as a support framework, laid on top of the existing fibreglass mould? If so can I just lay it down with a bog seating.

Could someone point me in the right direction for posting pics in here?

G'day Steve,

Welcome to iboats.
Q1. Yes, if the fibreglass stringers are big enough.
Q2. Look at this:

Re: 626 Fraser Formula

Thanks Triton, as we can see that worked.
Now I'll post some pics of the floor.
Those caps are 6" wide and a few layers thick, thick enough to hold my 100+kilos.

Bugga me two in a row.

How do I make the pics smaller?

You need to make them 640X480 or smaller. Use your image browser to resize. Alternatively open a photobucket account (it's free) and load them up to it at the large size which is 640x480. Then copy the image URL (in the window underneath each picture thumbnail) and paste it into your post. Good luck,

It is the drain hole in this pic that caused all the trouble! it wasn't plumbed to anywhere:mad:

When I removed the two seating boxes,
(I haven't mentioned that this boat is being setup as a fishing boat not a lounge suite)
I discovered that the rear box "The Esky" wasn't plumbed any where, the outlet just ended with the sidewall of the boat, and it was wet behind and underneath. Like the novice I am I didn't think any more about it, until
I ripped the carpet up and found that there was evidence of a repair on the sidewall and chine area.
An 6" square area of floor had no glass and the wood was dark and soft.
