haha yeah where do i get one and how does it come out? mine is worn bad, and i have too much into the power head to trash this awesome old motor.

You mean the prop shaft? Are your gears ok or do you need new ones? Try ebay or used engine salvage yards.

the shaft from the power head that gos down into the gear case in the lower unit. its scarred bad the whole lenght of it for some reason. im planning on rebuilding the lower unit, i just wanted to know if you could buy this shaft new??? the motor is one of the flat top twin cylinders.

Just because the drive shaft is scarred or rusty does not mean it is trash. The only criteria is that it be smooth where it enters the water pump housing at the seal & down thru the water pump into the lower unit. The area that it travels thru the exhaust housing is imatterial as to the condition. It also needs to be cleaned & re-greased at the upper splined powerhead crankshaft area.
