TRYING TO REMOVE LOWER UNIT TO REPLACE WATER PUMP CANT GET APART IS THERE SOMETHING HOLDING THE LOWER UNIT BESIDES THE FOUR BOLTS

If the engine has forward and reverse, you probably need to disconnect the shift rod. Not being long on brains for remembering and not knowing the year, I just can't tell you right off the top of my head where to disconnect it at. Some of the older engines you had to pull the engine block to disconnect the shift rod. Easy to do but a pain. Some had a small access cover on the side of the midsection to access the shift rod connector link.<br /><br />Could you post the model number so we can at least get a good year?

thanks obj for info i did pull block and had to remove 3/8 nut to get lower unit off and it was easy but crazy to put something in a place like that
