65hp Evinrude Throttle Cable Replacement

Hello!

I have a 1973 65hp Evinrude that I’m needing to replace. I have the new cable with the 4ft extra for the loop.

Im having trouble figuring out how the old one disconnects so I can reinsert the new one. Im not sure how to get the cable ends out of their housing. I can send pics if needed. Thanks!

Figured it out. On the bracket where the cable meets the gear on the motor, there is a small hex set screw. You must loosen this and the rod will pop right out. Same on the throttle engagement
