Hi,

I just got a 1973 65hp Triumph. It's a real bear to manualy tilt the motor and I'm wondering if the two tilt cylinders are working properly. Are they pressurized to assist in the tilt and if so, how can they be checked and repaired? I have a manual, but haven't found anything on this topic.

Re: 65hp Tilt Question

I think you will find the problem is at the pivot point where the engine swings up,the older ones had a bolt system and the newer have a tube that also allos for steering cables,,you might loosen the brackets up and carefully apply heat via a MAPP gas hand held torch,I cant tell you much about the manuel hydraulic assist you mention, they do sell assist mechanisms to help pull those engines up at the local boat stores
