Does anybody know how to totally remove the lower unit from an old 110. I don't have the service manual & I can't figure it out. There are 2 bolts that seem to hold it on, I removed those nuts & the lower unit slide off about 1 inch. Enough that I can see the impeller housing & the lower shifter.
That's as far as I can get it. I need to get this unit off b/c I don't think my impeller's been changed since '66, plus the gear shift is out of sink now & I need to be able to get it back aligned. Any help someone could give me would be much appreciated, Thanks!

P.s. I've included a link to the =lower unti diagram for my model:
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/show_image.asp?ivar=IMAGES/MERMAR/31945/27.png

You have removed all the fasteners, there are only 3 things inside that might holdn the unit and the first 2 I don't think would let it come down at all if they were holding, they would be the drive and shift shafts, the only other thing is the water tube, it's suppost to come out of the unit but may have came out at the top, it's curved and so it could let the unit down some and then bind it, if thats the case you will have to force it some to get it down, use care

I've had those legs stick on so well I had to use an air chizel. Are you sure it's going down an inch? Usually it's the shift shaft holding it up but then it would only drop a half inch at most.
Eric
