The manual specs J4J, The Motor has J4C in it. What's the difference?

Will a 9.9 fuel pump work on this motor? I haven't been able to find a 9.5 pump or kit. The manual states the pump is not rebuidlable and must be replaced if malfunctioning. The bad pump that's on it now looks nothing like the one in the manual.

J4C is the replacement for J4J. The C has a copper core and a full-width hook. The J plug's hook extends halfway across the center electrode. That was to prevent fouling which is no longer a problem when using outboard oil. When those first came out, automotive crankcase oil was mixed with the gas and sparkplug fouling was a common problem.

I'm not sure which 9.9 pump you have. The pump has been superceded to a newer style that still looks very much like the old one, but the outlet fitting isn't in the same place and you might need a bit more hose to reach the carb. They are rebuildable, but you don't want to. They have tiny springs that would make a watchmaker cuss at them.

Yes, any of the "square" style pumps will work just fine... used on all later model Johnrudes 15hp & under...
