Hi Folks,
I just joined and hope you don't mind my picking your brains, hopefully I can return the favor one day.
I recently bought a 1961 Lonestar with a 1966 60hp Sportfour Evinrude. I got the engine running fine, but had a little mishap and the junction box was submerged in salt water for about 6 hrs. After draining the water and repairing the hole, my starter stopped working.
I have replaced the solenoid with a replacement part, but still no luck! I am able to jump the solenoid and start electrically, but can't get the key to work. The solenoid looks different than the one I took out, But it's the correct one from the parts catalog.
Inside the junction box there is some other corroded "thing" with 4 wires connected to it. On this "thing" it says;
Pestolite b413 srp9001
I found the prestolite website but it was of no help to me.

Well, that's my sad story ! Any help would greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Jim

You might have blown a fuse in the junction box. The other "thing" is likely a voltage regulator. Better open it up and dry it out. Would be nice if you could blow everything out with compressed air to make sure everything is dry before applying voltage again. Electrical problems are fun. Lots of probing with a voltage meter to check circuits.

Thanks for your reply Evinrude ! Unfortunately there are no fuses in the junction box. I've been looking all over for one, but can only find small, single, in line fuses for a few different things (lights, horn, etc...). Guess I'll just keep searching. Fun, fun, fun !!!
