66 lark 8,carb kit and float

do i have to get my float/carb kit from evinrude?couldnt find my float on here or a kit including it/does this kind of float go bad?i decided that i prob need to put all new gaskets and such cause i noticed someone had used a thin piece of cardboard like a cereal box top or something for the intake gasket,looks like it could start a fire or something,,but i fig i would replace the inards also while it was off

Yep, a new float comes with the factory kit from an Evinrude dealer---or you can buy it separately.

The old shellac coating washes off in Ethanol. Some people recoat them. The new float supposedly has an Ethanol proof coating. Sort of a world of the Great Unknown.

i checked out his site,cool site,good to know,thanks,,,,,,but i had got the evinrude carb kit locally,,,21 bucks,,,an old dusty bag that said evinrude,,,worked well,had everything,,,it had an array of different parts in the bag,,obviuosly so the kit would cover alot of diff models of rudys
