I own a 1966 16 ft. Renken that I'm bringing back to life. It's my first boat, so here is the first of what will probably be many stupid questions: The transom drain hole (that drains the deck)is approximately 3/4" above the deck, instead of right at deck level. This causes a permanent puddle on the aft deck under the batt box & gas tank. Can anyone tell me why they did this & what I can do to fix it? On the outside of the transom, the inner hull drain plug fitting's outside diameter is large enough to come right to the edge of the transom drain, making it difficult to lower the transom drain. Any suggestion?

  null

Re: '66 Renken

i cant answer your ? bu ti have a 69 16 ft and it has the same set up i think .i took out the drain plug put some epoxy resin over the wood and set a new drain plug in with more epoxy . it seems to be hold out good . i look at it this way the boat is over 30 years old and the transom is still in good shape so the design is okay
