New to the forum. A wealth of information here.

I have a '66 Seaswirl that for lack of a better term I'd call a runabout. 14 feet or so in length. It has a Renault 4-cylinder inboard with a Mercruiser outdrive. It has not been on the water since '96, and has not been fired up for at least 8 years. The seats and top are gone, but the bimini frame and hardware are still there. The outdrive does not shift gears and the water jacket on the engine block appears to have been repaired with JB Weld. The hull and transom appear to be solid.

Couple of questions:

1. Is something like this worth restoring? I have no sentimental attachment to it.
2. How hard would it be to change out the current power package and upgrade it to something newer?
3. Is there a market for the engine/outdrive parts? I have the dual carbs and they are in good shape except for the leather boots.

Honest opinions are welcome. If I don't repair it, I will probably cut it up and haul it to the dump. It is sitting on a homemade boat trailer that would better serve as a flatbed toy hauler.

That old drive is totally NLA and with it busted to begin with, that's a really bad start, and I'm pretty sure that it cannot be swapped easy with another drive. Almost 20 years out of the water is really bad.. Top it off, most old fiberglass boats are just not valuable unless they have some 'wow' factor. some People are likely looking for drive parts being they are NLA, and a lot of the old boat hardware is quite valuable.
