Here is a u tube link of problem I'm having. I couldn't fig out how to post video.. it run fine one day next day it was doing this. I had starter rebuilt shortly b4 that started the starter is trying to engage but not turning flywheel. I cleaned grounds I checked ohms on recefitier it was allover place I put a used stator on it still doing same. I guess my question is would stator cause the flywheel not to turn. Its a new battery and fly wheel will turn motor not locked

Your rectifier is probably fried. Switch voltmeter to diode mode arrow with line thru it. Put one lead on rectifier shell. Touch other to each wire. Now put the other lead on shell and touch each wire with the other lead. It should only read one way. A bad battery or a reversed polarity, poor dirty connections can destroy rectifier. Take your battery to autozone and have it tested. And check your rectifier. And don't try and jump it with jumper cables that will ruin rectifier too

After looking at your video that is puzzling. Almost seems like it's stripped inside starter. Like it's spinning inside but not turning shaft. Hopefully some one with some expertise will chime in

The Starter has to come off. It is a gear reduction starter, so there are more parts than just the bendix that can be stripped

Need longer video. Try jumping cable straight to starter.
Kind of looks jammed in there, not like its meshing properly

I've tried jumper cables. I took starter off took back to the guy he said he fixed starter its still doing same thing even if gears are lined up

I took the starter back to guy who rebuilt it. He says "its fine "Just curious could the safety switch on motor keep it from Turing over

A safety switch would not allow any current to the starter.
Watching the video again, the bendix does start to lift and engage, but then the grinding starts. Did the rebuilder check the whole mechanism, or just the armature, brushes, bearings?

This is for a 65 90, but there shouldn't be too much differenct. should get larger if double clicked on

What about the teeth on the end/top of the Armature?

There are splines on parts #7 and #13, do they mesh properly?, and internal threads on the Pinion to match with part #7, condition?
