hi, this is my first post here and i'm hoping you guys can help me out. i just bought a 14' semi v with a 67 johnson 5 hp. i searched around here for information about them, and now i'm a little confused. the guy i bought it from was running 50:1 mix, but it seems that this model ( ld-12 ) might need 24:1. was wondering if someone could clarify for me.

the motor runs good on 50:1 it seems, but i don't know much about boats. this is my first. i had an atv, but with two little guys it got me thinking that fishing trips with the old man might be more memorable than dad gone riding his 4 wheeler! so i sold the 4 wheeler and picked up this boat.

took it out today with the family and it did a good job. BUT, my mistake, i ran to shallow and busted a piece off the prop!, so if anyone can describe how to know what kind of prop to replace that with i'd also be grateful. i'll buy two and consider it a lesson learned!

thanks to all.

50:1 is the proper ratio. Do you have a dealer near you, they could get a prop for you or suggest a prop shop. You might also check any salvage yards that might be around you. Sometimes you can locate parts on Ebay.

Look into a Mac prop guard. It will cost a little more than a prop, but in the long run can save you big. 1 replacement prop and one guard.

I lost 2 props in 3 back to back outings. The second on a high rock in 10' of water. Built my own guard after that and it works great.

How do you measure that? My oil comes in 16 oz. bottles.
