took out today and was going down the river and suddenly the motorstarted to rev high and we lost all speed dramatically. Did we per chance strip somthing out in the lower unit. Still trying to figure out how to hook up the shift interrupt switch. Looked in seloc manuel and it said to ground one end to - side of iginitioin coil and ground the other lead on the started mounting bracket but the wires arent long enough. Does it matter where you ground it out as long as its grounded? Would not having the shift interrupt switch hooked up caused what ever it is to strip out in the lower unit?

Not Directly........... But over time it May have been the Root Issue...........

I'd Start by looking at the Prop to see if the Hub Slipped.......

Next on the list is the Coupler,...... Did the motor Over-Heat ?? that would indicate the drive isn't turning At All..... That would be the Coupler.........

Then I'd be looking at the Drive itself..... If the Upper Gears are Shot,.... It's got Nothing to do with the Shift Switch......... If it's the Lower Unit, Shift Dog,... That's Because of the Faulty Shift Swtich.............

Good Luck..........
