Re: 68' 55 hp good/bad
I remember waterskiing behind one of these beauts. When I was a kid though. No chance that happening with it now!! I can run the ole' 55 in the driveway all afternoon but put it in the lake and it's like the damn thing is allergic LOL!!! Like previous poster said , when running good, they are great, lot's of power and not too bad idling along for trolling, but when the electrics act up, look out. I have changed the power pack on my 55 3 times now and at the price of 380 a pop, I'm not too keen on doing it again. Actually all of the marine dealers in my area in Saskatchewan Canada are having a lot of trouble locating another one for me. Not sure why or what causes them to go, but, for some strange reason, they last only so long. I have moved on to an older 35 hp johnson on a smaller rig so I could be persuaded to sell the thing whole or parts if interested. Or I could just kick it in the lake the next time I am up

Still have the receipt for the whole set up when the old man bought it brand new. Total for 16 1/2 foot Crestliner one piece deep-V aluminum with canopy, console steering with speedo, radio, windsheild wipers, engine, two gas tanks, trailer, battery, anchor, etc. was 1500.00 and change. Try finding a deal like that today.........
