Hello, you may recall my post a few weeks ago about my newlr rebuilt 55hp fouling out spark plugs every 30 min. Well, I hesitated to bring back to the shop (because these guys will have it for a month or longer), so I adjust the low speed needles back to 5/8 turn out. This eliminated the fouling plugs and horrendous low throttle running condition.....BUT, it still runs lousy at lower throttles, only not as bad as before. Most notably, when throttling up, the engine really struggles through the "transition" speeds going onto the main jets. It sounds rough, even a couples misses are evident, but once it gets onto the main it runs good. (This is my estimation of what it is doing).
Any ideas what the issue could be? Note that the engine still only has about 3 hrs on it since the rebuild. The shop has said to finish the break-in and evaluate it then, but I sincerely doubt break-in is responsible for this running conditon.
Also, I tried adjusting the low needles and found it very difficult by sound. It just seemed that I needed to turn the needle larger amount before I could preceive a change in idle speed/quality. Any suggestions would be appreciated (if possible without a tach).
I would like to mess with it a bit more before bringing to the shop who rebuilt it because I know their track record for timely service
Thanks alot!
