Hi all . I have a 68- 65hp merc ser #2311643. I also have a parts motor that is a 68 65 HP with ser# 2447744 .I got this motor to use controls and tach on my boat. I have instaled the the controls and they work just fine.I look at my mercury servic manual # c-90-68647 and it has a 2 wiring diagrams for this motor . I think if i read this right that the motor with #2311643 is a breaker less ignition . How do i tell if it is because there is no s or ss in the ser# . I want to use the tach from the old motor .The tac itself is a one like what is in the book. On the back of the tach there is a module with part#52552-A2 will this work ? In the book it says to use the module with part # A-52552A3 if it is the breakless type this i am not sure of. On the parts motor the distributor has a thin rotor cap and the one on my boat is a thicker one.. If you can help i would be gratefull .Thank's for yhour time. God Bless Ernie.
