Hi: I have a little 3hp Evinrude with a folding shaft and a weedless prop that runs good and looks good. I've used it on my 12 foot aluminum boat, but it's kinda slow and a guy who collects old outboards says he will trade a 9hp motor for this. I don't know what this motor is worth. Could someone help? Thank you.

What your motor is worth depends on age
condition,buyer and seller.
If it is old enough and nice enough it is collectable.
If you have the time watch ebay pay close attention to condition.
Now for the 9 horse, dont trade for an off brand
orphan.Chrysler/Force,The newer SeaKings,Sears
etc.Stick with E/J,Merc/Mariner,honda etc,etc.

Thanks for the reply Spike. I've already learned my lesson about old off-brand motors - I think the guy said it was a Johnson. I like tinkering with these old units, but it is frustrating when you can't find parts. I'll check Ebay and meanwhile keep my little motor and use it. Best wishes.
