68 Evinrude/69 Johnson 55 hp compatability

I have a 68 Evinrude 55 hp electric shift. I also have an opportunity to buy a 69 55 hp Johnson for very little. My thought would be to use the 69 Johnny as a parts motor.

My question is, how compatible are the two motors? Are the engines close enough to be basically interchangable as for parts? How about the lower units and tranmissions?

They are very close to identical. One had a vacuam control switch to the ignition, but without looking at a manual, not sure. Someone help us out here.
