O.K. motor has good compression and even. Timing is spot on. Has been converted from semi electronic ignition to conventional coil/ points system (ie no more amplifier). Replaced coil, condenser, points are clean and gapped, all wiring under shroud replaced, including all high tension leads and spark plugs. Tried using a jumper from the positive battery lead to the positive side of the coil (to eliminate wiring to and from helm) - still misses. Bought a spare motor and swapped the distributor and rotor - still misses. Don't think it's carb/fuel related as the miss is instant and random. Seems to miss more at WOT than at idle. It will run for up to 30 minutes without a problem and then just suddenly start to miss after throttling down to an idle and then going to WOT. If the throttle is retarded slowly the miss sometimes clears up but then as the throttle is advanced towards WOT the miss reappears. Water pump is O.K. I've spent over 20 hrs trying to resolve this problem. The motor runs great when miss is not happening. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
