Hi Everyone

Installed water pump last weekend. At the time we thought the shaft going from motor to lower unit turned in both directions. That is we concluded the "transmission" was in the upper unit. We now know otherwise.

At the time, we said if th shaft spins both directions and this part is rubber, then it doesn't matter which way the vanes are bent, it would correct itself each time. Are we half right, if it were installed incorrectly, would the vanes right themselves when motor is started?

thank you
Billy Bob

Impeller blades should be installed the same direction as the original impeller. If you know they are in backwards, take it out and reverse the direction of the blades.

Hello.
You should open up the water pump housing again and turn the drive shaft clock wise while you lower the top of the housing into its position. This will lock the vanes in the right direction. Now while tightening the bolts you must keep on turning the drive shaft clock wise so nothing binds up.Some people advise you to use a lubricant on the impeller.I like to use some ivory soap concentrate.
Good luck.

rolmops and th

Thank you for the advice. Will redo to make sure it is in right. The Ivory soap thing sounds good too.

t.h. Sorry to say this, but if I thought it was in wrong, really, don't you think I'd correct the situation? I would not intentionally do something wrong and leave it.

Thank you both for the help

Billy Bob
