Hi, This is my first time here.
I'm fixing up an old 60's Dura Craft runabout. It has a 68 Johnson 40 hp RDS-30d motor. The steering pivot is leaking grease. I removed the power head assembly and have the lower unit on the bench. I am trying to remove the pivot shaft so I can replace the seals. On the lower end there is an internal retaining ring, that has no means of getting a tool on it for removal. I assume I need to remove this to get it apart. Any tips on taking this thing apart?
Thanks,
Steve

I figured it out. There is a bolt on the side that holds the pivot shaft in. After the pivot shaft is removed. The bushings need to be removed.
