I don't own one, but she looks nice!! Any interior pics? I would imagine it's in very nice shape since it's been owned by only one person.

The interior was dry and faded so I tore the seats out last fall before storage and have had 4 made with two to come. It had originally two sleepers and two rear seats. Those are complete. Pictures attached. I have two helmsman seats being made yet to come. I also am replacing the floor and the carpet as it had some worn spots and some soft spots. I will use a pebbled vinyl floor covering instead of rug.seat 2.jpg

pretty rare Starcraft there....at least, i don't know of any others here. welcome to the mob!

hope you don't find what i fear you'll find when you cut out the floor....that due to water running downhill, if the deck has water damage, the stringers (longitudinal reinforcement that supports deck and keeps hull from folding up) under it do too, and commonly the transom as well. still, the boat looks worth doing some work on.

I'm guessing glass, there's a corner edge of the bow cover showing above the bow rubrail:

And the complete absence of rivets

Glass, and i do suspect once the floor is completely off some structure repairs but hopefully not the transom. the original owner would not even mount a transducer in the transom so any water damage would come from inside.

That's a good looking boat, cdn. I don't know of any other Suncruisers in the forums. Hope your resto goes well and with minimum itching. :joyous:

Re: 68 Starcraft 20' Suncruiser

Thanks, I do too. The boat is in storage until May 1st then I have about a week to get it ready for the slip I have rented. My seats will be ready and I have booked the week off work so it will be a race against the clock. If when i pull up the floor its a mess i will just not put it in the water on the dock day.
Here is a few pics of my 14' Springbok I did a quick resto on 2 years ago. It needed a few blind rivits, a re-caulk along all seam and i replaced the worn bench seats with modern fishing seats and plenty of storage below them. I also put a deck between the front and back seats so when walking you are not stepping on the floor of the boat you are stable on 3/4 ply with a rug. DSCN6286.jpgI did a quick driveway colour change from baby blue to a medium blue, added a canvas top I had from a previous 14ft boat and changed the cable steering to a teleflex.
I added a few gauges, a fish finder , a tack and my 1967 Merc 350 Electric start and it is a great boat. Just not a big water craft.

Yes medium metallic blue. It was a driveway paint job of base and clear. Not my best work but good enough to hide the horrible shade of baby blue sun faded mess it was.

This will be the third floor i have put in a boat so it should not be a problem.
It will go like this.................measure, re-measure..............trace, cut, install, swear remove and trim. Repeat this procedure 25 times and that is day one!

see easy.

I replaced the floor last weekend, glassed it and laid new anti-slip vinyl flooring. The stringers and transom are solid. One thing Starcraft did no other boat I ever opened up was the stringers and support wood does not go to the floor allowing any water into the bildge and out the drain plugs. The reason the floor was soft was the seat attaching hardware used back then was rubber plugs so I assume they wept over the last 30 plus year as only spots around the rubber plugs was actually rotted. I did the floor with 5/8 rather then the 1/2 it had to add some support the the old girl. waiting for delivery of my helmsman seats and a little rewiring to modern radio and finder etc.
