I recently bought a reconditioned lower unit and bolted it on. It worked well but I hit a log, not very hard and it became stuck in forward gear. It started and ran well. I got it in my driveway and "adjusted" the linkage where the rods connect on the side of the outdrive and now it is stuck in reverse. It shifted fine at first and the LU oil is good. I am thinking of taking off the LU to see if I can shift it manually. After that I would drain the oil and break it down but I am somewhat clueless. It is the model with the spring loaded detent in the drive shaft. I am about ready to give up and spend some dough on a newer model. Any advice appreciated.
