i read in the owners manual to squirt a lubricating rust inhibitor into the carb while running until the enging stalls. i did this using wd40 but the enging wouldn't quit running. i disconected the fuel line and continued running and squirting untill the fuel was used up. then pulled the cord through till water stopped discharging from the exhaust. is this the corect method or should i have NOT used wd40?

wd-40 should not be used to " fog" your motor!. there are many brands of 2 stroke fogging oil on the market. get it running again and follow the instructions on the brand you choose. you should also drain and refill the gearcase with fresh oil. jmo

NO !! wd-40. Get the proper fogging oil and do it over again.
