69 40 HP Water Pump question

My son and I are replacing many parts on the engine. We were replacing the WP, and in his enthusiasm, pulled out the water pumpstar before I could see how it went in. Attached is a photo of how we put it in. Can anyone tell me whether this is right, or if we have to go in and turn it around?
Thanks.

Whew!
Thanks.
Just a thought. If one were tp put it in wrong and not catch it, do you suppose there would be enough friction to flip them around when it gets to it's "extended" side of the chamber?

Yes, they will flip on that particular motor. Not necessarily true on some others.
