69 55hp johnson wiring

Need some help, have a 69 55hp johnson that needed rewired.Chewed off by mice. Found a new harness and have the outboard done except for 2 wires that i am not sure of.The wires are on the left side of the engine and run down the inside of the tail shaft.Something to do with shift maybe? Looked for wiring diagram to no avail.Please help

Sounds like the shift wires, green and blue. There should be wires coming up from the lower unit to attach them to, orginally there was rubber boots over the knife connectors.

Yep thats it. New harness has different colors. Any way to tell what color goes where?

What colors are the wires, I don't think I have ever seen any other colors than green and blue for the shift system.
