1969 85 hp johnson outboard
Recently I was cruising and my motor started to dog out and sputter. As it started to slow down, I increased throttle to maintain speed. Eventually I just came to a floating stop. Would start back up even after it cooled off.
I took the fuel pump apart to check it, and noticed there is a small hole in the back of it. Toward the top there is the little plastic pin that sticks through. That is supposed to be there, but just aft of that there is a little pencil tip size hole that doesn't look machined. Is that supposed to be there?
Also, just behind that there is a place on the carburetor that looks like it would take a small screw, but there is no screw. Is that supposed to be like that?
Any other help to figure out my engine problem would be great.
THANKS!!
