help! i have no spark at the plugs trying to get the boat on water before summers over. i think it could be the amplifier but i'm not for sure
backyard mechanic
i have a 69 johnson 85 hp that had a blown fuse that caused mine not to fire. i hope its as simple as that.... but if not...... i can tell you the voltages to check at your amplifier if needed. good luck
thanks for the info. i checked the fuse at the terminal block and it was ok i also checked power from the red amp wire
to the blue ok there too i clip onto the ground wire (black w/ stripe) and then touched the ground
on the coil and i got spark at the coil and also at the number 2 cyl. i'm not for sure what this means but the spark must have went through the distibutor and back to the plug?? electronics are not my strong point. mechanical either ha ha
any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.
You have two pairs of points under the flywheel. The lead from the points to your powerpack will go ground, then open, 4 times each flywheel revolution. The pack fires when the points (it's either open or close). Check the lead going to the points (change in continuity as you rotate the flywheel) & see what you get.
