'69 85hp V4 breaker points NLA-- where to find?

The breaker points for my '69 85hp V4 Evinrude are NLA. What are my options here? Is there a source other than Ebay (no help there) where I might be able to find them? Are there any other part numbers that are somehow compatible?<br /><br />In the meantime, I will try to file/adjust the old ones. Any general advice? Thanks!

Hmmm...that doesn't make any sense. Those should be Sierra 18-5157, which fit all of the V4's from 1958. I can't believe that there was a change there. The complete Sierra tune-up kit should be 18-5001.<br /><br />Anyway, points are cheap, so you won't be out much if you buy a set.

I cross referenced the parts number to other V4 engines in that series, and it matches. You can't get the OMC part, but the Sierra one will do just fine. You're in luck, and should be able to get the set at any NAPA dealer or from:<br /><br /> http://www.marineparts.com/sierra/sierra139.aspx

If you can't find them in iboats mega mall, do a search for TwinCity Marine.....they should have them. I checked Sierra and they didn't have a number for them. The original part number was 383655.

383655 cross-references to the Sierra 18-5157 number and the 18-5001 tune-up kit. I checked several other V4s from several years and they all specify the same OMC part number, so that kit should do the trick. Apparently, the 85hp from that year doesn't show up in the Sierra application listing, but the part's the same.

Thanks for the info! How did you cross-reference 383655 to 18-5157? I've been to marineparts.com, Iboats MegaMall, and several other places, and can't find any connection. Tried looking up several motors listed for the Sierra kit, but can't find any webpages listing OMC part #'s for those. It would be good to know how to do this in the future when the next thing breaks. Thanks again!

This is the PITA points, used between '68 and '72. You might try Laing's . They list them for the best price I've seen on the 'net yet. But for the cost of them, I would just service what you have.
