ok i had a thread for the ignition but it was answered and went off topic to a new question here it is

apparently i bought a control unit for a pull start engine, what i was going to do was install the ignition and choke button on the dash not on the control i have a wiring diagram i have no clue what the tan wire goes to on the external wire harness there is no tan wire coming from the engine here is a pic of the wire diagram i am confused about tan wire "E" i know it connects to the ignition but where does it connect at the engine side of the harness?
the tan wire actually goes to the ignition switch and connects to "D" in the off position thats what got me confused???????????

heres the link to the wiring diagram the picture is bigger here thanks http://maxrules.com/oldmercs/Wiring/1966ona/30.gif

also im about 85% sure this is the right wiring diagram for my engine it is a 1969 mercury merc650 65hp S/N 2713867 if anyone has a better diagram
(or if this is the wrong one) have the right one Thanks Guys

It's as simply as you don't have the right wiring harness and switch' so your only hope is to take a factory wireing diagram and sort your wires out and hook them up properly. Here's a factory diagram for you engine you need to sort you harness out and hook up the right wires to your switch

ok thanks laddies i appreciate you help, so bassically the tan/salmon wire is obsolete and des not need to be used. what im going to do is use switches and momentary switches instead of using a key
