Hi everyone,
New to the forum - just getting back into boating after a long inactive time. Purchased a 69 Mercury 75 outboard seems very clean inside and out runs great idles good forward and reverse all engage properly no strange noises nothing. I have what seems to be gear oil coming out of what looks to be a very tiny hole manufactured into the housing. When I rotate the propeller it weeps clean greenish blue gear oil.
I did some searching and the closest thread I could find is this one: https://forums.iboats.com/forum/eng...744-oil-leaking-from-small-hole-in-lower-unit. The only thing I can say about the oil is that it does feel thin between my fingers, I haven't handled gear oil recently so I have nothing to compare the feeling to.
I plan on changing the fluid myself tomorrow but can someone explain the mystery to me or do I just need to go get the lower unit pressure checked?
Thanks in advance!
