I am trying to get the lower unit off of my model 60 that was just given to me and
was told still had the original impeller. I have tried everything I can think of it will drop
down about 3/4" and then sticks will not come off any further.
My model 110 (9.8) comes right off, Any suggestions?

Hey Doug, Well first of all I have a 1966 60 6hp, I just dropped the lower unit, when I came to your problem I had the same difficulties. You just have to pry down on outer units housing with care not to scratch/marr the aluminum anywhere. The problem lies in the water tube, the old one is very old and swelled-up a great deal of force is needed to release the old rubber grommet that aliens the water tube inside it's housing. The problem isn't getting it out, it's getting it back together.
Once you get it out, be sure and lube each connection. Let me know how you do.
