Anyone know where an inexpensive used CD ignition box that fits a 1978-1884 Chrysler, 7.5 H.P. can be found? Wires on this one supposedly are heat damaged and melted?? Motor appears to have good spark but won't start. Thanks for your help in advance.

If that motor has good spark at the plugs, then cd box may not be the problem. How old is the fuel? Can the wires be repaired? IE heat shrink tubing or new wire spliced into the damaged part. You could contact Franzmarine@aol.com He has alot of old chrysler parts I think. What do the plugs look like after cranking over a few times?

A dealer diagnosed the problem. I would have to agree and think as you have stated, that if new pieces of wire could be spliced/heat shrinked in -it would work?? Is there a possibility the CD Box was damaged from the wires melted together or not??I don't have the motor currently so I can't check it myself..but the dealer should know although they would rather try and soak you $500 for a new CD box and installation- (on a motor not even worth that) than tell you, you can splice the wires together for a couple bucks and it would work fine...Spark seemed fine to me although maybe it is shorting out being melted or grounding somehow throwing the spark timing off, making the motor not start. Fuel should be fresh and carb is clean. I find it hard to believe it wouldn't attempt to start or do anything. I don't know how the plugs look--if they get fouled out with gas or not. But- Thanks for The Info and Help.
