7.5 hp 1976 turning in neutral

Hi guys. This might be a stupid question, but when I put my outboard into nutral, the propeller still turns...is this normal? How does nutral differ from Forward?

Yep, that's normal. As long as it turns slowly. the difference between forward and neutral is the position of the clutch dog. I'm thinking that since the pinion gear is turning both forward and reverse gears all the time, there is some movement of the shaft as a result.
I'm no expert on that, just know it's normal.

Hm. Thanks for your reply. How slow is, slow ? If i am running it in neutral in a bucket of water, the water is getting pushed around...
