I was just given a 1982 Eska Motor model # 217.585751. Does anyone know where I can download a free operators manual?

Re: 7.5 hp Gamefisher Eska Motor

Woe is me! I just purchased a 15' boat and it came with a 7.5 Gamefisher motor. Motor runs well but a slight problem.....when I put it in gear the prop does NOT turn. Shear pin is intact and in place.

Any info re the type of transmission, how it works, etc will be greatly appreciated. When I place it in gear (Not running) and apply pressure to the gear shift lever and turn the prop, the more pressure I apply I can feel that the prop gets harder to turn, almost as if there is a clutch assembly involved.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 7.5 hp Gamefisher Eska Motor

I have the ESKA 7.5 motor and a manual. Looking at the exploded view the shifter is a bevel gear on the prop shaft that engages another bevel gear on the end of the drive shaft. the only rubbing would be the shifter cage than moves the gears.

You might want to first check to see of the prop free wheels, it could be a shear pin in the prop hub. Another thought would be to look at the shift linkage. Mine has a lot of play and it's hard ton tell if it's in or out of gear sometimes.
