7.5 hp gamefisher piston rings

I am replacing my piston rings and also my gaskets to the power head and any other gasket that is on this motor. What should i be carful of and how can i get these old gaskets off the seem to be glued I have been scrapping them with a knife lol and i hope that i dont have to finish it that way. thanks for any help you can give

I have several scrapers. One is a wood chisel, others are sharpened putty knives, and razor blades. Exhaust gaskets frequently need to be chiseled off. You may want to invest in some gasket sealer if the surfaces get damaged (it's almost impossible not to). Silicones don't work well. I like liquid Permatex.
