I have a 1969 7.5 motor with the Thunderbolt ignition on it the motor is new to me. It has obviously not been used much as stuff like the exhaust houseing was very clean. It runs like a Swiss watch. But after it's first lake run I notice a lot of the old brittle insulation from the ignition system is falling apart. The wires don't bend anymore due to age and rot. Can I just replace wires or is it not a good idea to solder new wires to the magneto?

BTT on this for advice. I think the bad wires are leads coming out of the stator. I hate replacing the whole part just cause the insolation on the wires is bad. I haven't torn it apart yet. But I can see the wires falling apart from vibration.

Advise??
