7.5 Merc tilt problem

Hi.

I'm totally unable to lift my engine to get it in the shallow drive position unless forward gear is already engaged. Am I right in thinking that something needs adjusting so that the engine can be tilted while it's in neautral?

No, thats exactly the way is was designed

Wow. Strange. So when you're going into shallow water you have to either stop the engine or lift it up against the thrust from an already engaged prop in order to get it into the shallow drive position? I'd love to know who dreamed that one up. Thanks for answering. This could take quite a bit of getting used to since I'm in and out of marshes and mudflats all the time.
