7.5hp Water Everwhere!

I replaced the water pump in this motor and found I still wasn't getting circulation. I cleaned out every water passage and port and reassembled everything. I blew air through everything and it seemed fine. I started it up and it pumped fine. Lots of water is pumping out the tell-tale and the exhaust. The problem is that there is also water coming out the spark plugs and from around the exhaust cover. Could this be happening because there is still a slight blockage or that flow is restricted somewhere and is causing too much back pressure?

i' d guess you have a cracked block. or bad gaskets .

I'm thinking water jacket cover seal if it's coming out around the plugs. Or is it actually coming out the plug holes?

There is a cover that looks like a head, but isn't, where the spark plugs screw in. Water isn't getting into the cylinder, but it is coming out where the plugs screw in. The water seems to be over pressured.

Try some windshield sealer around the plugs. I had the same problem and it was the water jacket cover seal.

Your motor must be newer than mine. Mine is only a twin cylinder - lol!

I'll try that, but it still doesn't fix my exhaust gasket problem. The gaskets all look good and I used gasket sealer. Plus I have everything overtorqued (now) and its still spraying out - not just a slow dribble. This is why I suspected something else. I'll try your suggestion and check back tomorrow.

Use new gaskets and do them again...also, if you didn't torque in sequence you may have warped your covers. Usually the gaskets don't use gasket sealer and I'm surprised the old ones didn't pull apart when you took the covers off.

Originally, I torqued in a circular sequence and reused the gaskets because they didn't look bad. I also used gasket sealer to "hedge my bets" so to speak. I made a gasket for the engine to exhaust tower seal.

Last night I took it apart and re-cleaned and seated everything. I replaced the water jacket seal with gasket silicone. I also double checked the discharge ports and found a bit of the old gasket plugging the "tell tale" hole. I picked at the hole for awhile and cleared out a bit of old gasket. I got a lot more air flow through it after the second cleaning. After running the motor this afternoon everything appears good. There is no more leaking. I think the bit of gasket I missed shifted inside and partially plugged the discharge creating too much back pressure.
