Hello!

I am looking at picking this up today so any quick help would be greatly appreciated!

It is a 7 HP SEAKING OUTBOARD MOTOR. I do not know the year of it... Says Motor is in excellent condition and has been fully gone through. Carburetor has been cleaned, all new fuel lines, lower unit and water pump checked and lower unit has new grease. New pull rope. Motor has been fully cleaned, painted, and tuned up and is ready to go fishing.

Wants $175

Good deal? Anything I should look for? Are these good little outboards? Looking to use it to push my 13' aluminum V... This will be my first ever outboard, ever. I use a trolling motor as sole push right now.

One of my biggest concerns about this, is when I asked if it was pissing out a good stream of water (showing the impeller works good). He said this engine works different... It has about 6 holes up top that the water hits a plate and "mists" out of. Is this correct? Please help! Looking at this thing today after work and I dont want it to end up frying on me on the lake.

Also, does anyone know what fuel:eek:il ratio to run? Another thing I read about these engines seeing as its air cooled top and water cooled arm, the engine is not meant for marine oil. I should use just regular 2 cycle lawnmower type oil. Is this correct???

Its air cooled so no water pee hole or water pump to worry about.

Yes, you should use a quality marine oil.

These are cheap motors, only worth 20 bucks in my part of the world, but if he spent a lot of $ to do what he says he did, he's probably recouping his investment. Prtobably a 1970's motor.

Its probably an Eska. Not real well thught of. If it were me and i wanted to actually use the motor, I'd buy a late model Evinrude or Johnson for about $50 and pay a dealer another $150 to recondition it.

It looks in really nice shape, but why do that to yourself? Johnson, Evinrude= best value in used small outboards
Make your first outboard a good experience.

It is a K700 which from what I see is Clinton build. It ran great and sounded great... couldnt pass it up. He took $150 for it. I'm happy with it. Will hopefully get it out on the water this next weekend. He was a real nice guy. Mechanic. I wasnt looking at spending a lot of money on an outboard, so this was the perfect price. Its super hard to find ANYTHING here for under $300...

I know its no Evinrude/Johnson, but whats so wrong with this little guy? Its been around for 30+ years and still running great, so it seems its fairly reliable motor. Very simplistic design. For the price, if it only lasts me a couple years I'd be ecstatic.

I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of your motor---congrats on your first outboard. As you said, for $150, it's hard to go wrong. I would think, however, that your motor probably saw very little use for most of those 30years. You will find johnson/evinrudes that look like they've been used every day for the last 130years that still run great. I only mention this because the reliability of an OMC is such a concern for me. It gets over 100 degrees where I live with 90% humidity, and I run my motors long distances when fishing in the summer. I dread the paddle back after a long fishing trip in that kind of heat, or the same when it's raining and 27 degrees like it was a few days ago. Your motor would probably be ideal for short trips due to it's really light weight. I guess I'm just looking at things from my perspective, which is likely a lot different from yours.
I hope you got a goodun',

Thanks. I know how the humidity can be, ugh... just moved from VA and it was pretty bad out there as well. Not so bad here in Oregon now though. Just got a new trolling motor for the boat this last month and that was and has been my sole method of push. It has worked fine, but I just wanted something a little more powerful to get to the other side of the lake if we were just not getting any fish. So really it wont see too much uses. Most of the lakes I fish are relatively small and the trolling motor will take us around most of it. But for the few larger ones we may visit, just wanted something... I hope it lasts a good while. Will do my best to maintain it and for the price I wont be too hurt if it kicks the bucket.
