'70 800El distrubutor removal

guy,
My distrubutor, (thunderbolt w/ adapter) does not drop down the way the manual said it should. The bottom section of the timing pully does not pass through the opening. Is there a special trick to this? It seems like I need to pull the timing pully off.. Will I need a special puller for this ?

Ed on my '73 and '77 the pulley had to come off. It was a straight shaft, so it came off w/o a problem.

Yep.... I got it!

Gently taped on the rotor shaft with a wood dowel and and a small hammer. It popped right off!
I just hate pyring things like these off...... especially when I didn't know exactly how to remove it.. DO NOW! thanks.......
