1984 70hp Evinrude 3cyl.
History - About a month ago I completed an overhaul of the powerhead and to my amazement, the 25yr old motor came to life on the first crank and idled like it was brand new. Unfortunately, when I put it in the water, the performance was poor as the engine would not accept anything more than 1/2 throttle as it just bogged down.
I then ordered the carb kits and fuel pump kits for an overhaul which has now resulted in fixing my power problem as I have great top end; however, I have a new problem of no ability to idle. When I try to idle the engine, it begins to spit and sputter before it kills. It will only stay running if I throttle it up ou I hit the primer solenoid switch.
Please Help! - Any assistance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any additional assitance.
