70 hp chrysler prop questions

I have a 1970 15' tri hull boat with a 70 hp chrysler outboard and the prop seems to be spun so I plan on getting a new one but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what size and pitch to get. The reason I am asking is the guy who sold it to me had a 2 blade prop on it and he said it ran better than a 3 blade, so I can only assume the prop is not orginal. Any input would be appriciated. Oh ya the boat will most likely be loaded with 4-6 people all the time and would like to pull a tube. Thanks

You can probably have it repaired then get us the prop size usually near the base of the blades.the max rpm and speed. A tinytach is about $40 and easy to install.

Chrysler DID make some two blade props, as a matter of fact, I have two of them. Typical prop size was a three blade 13 3/8 X 15, 17, or 19, depending upon hull size and load. These props were the fine splined pin drive props and are not available anymore. You may be able to find one on ebay by searching Chrysler props.

I do have a couple of them also. If you have no luck on ebay or if they are too expensive (usually are) then send me your email address in a private message and I will send photos and stats of the ones I do have.

Thanks I will look there and if no luck I will send you a message... Is a 2 blade prop ok for pulling tubes with 4 or 5 people on the boat... I will also get the numbers off of my prop and let you know maybe it will help. Thanks

This may be a stupid question but if I have a spun prop and from what I under stand the prop is spinning on the hub (by the way I marked the hub and prop yesterday and after taking it out on the water I looked at the marks and they have moved) why can't I just get pressed back in?
