Hi, Its a 1984 Evinrude 70 hp 49 cid it has been doing this forever and I get get over on it pretty easily. For the first start of the day the motor starts and runs fine at a higher then idle setting for warm up after a few minutes of warm up (2minutes) it will idle fine. I will drive away for a short 5 mintues to open water. Then but not always it will bog on throttle advancement. All it takes it to do it again and its ok.
Like it was loaded up.I can drive 10 miles at WOT,stop and start it 5 times and drive away and then without any reason it will do it again. Usally 5 miles out it the ocean. And thers no feeling like a like a motor dying in the ocean. It will start right up and go almost every time on the first time. On the very rare times it won't go. I have had to pull the plug wires one at a time and rest the wire on the spark plug to make the gap hoter, till I get the engine to sound like it hitting on all 3 cyl I think its the # 2 cyl/carb thats giving me the problem. I not one that advacates just turning carb screw settings just because there there. I willing to adjust it if I know thats the problem. What am I looking for to tell me it a a fuel/spark issue? Before I just go in a start turning!
steve
