Welcome to iboats. I don't know how to post a pic but have the same engine you do. The choke should be electric also by pushing in the key.

this model never came out with a linkage for the choke you pull the knob on the lower engine cover like on the 1970 60hp for example , on the center carb there is a bracket you turn by hand clockwise only a little bit , like our m8t said use the key . cheers

durban there is a manual choke but it is a lever behind the airbox. You have to remove the engine cover to use it. Pretty useless in my estimation, key works quicker. have a vegemate sandwich on me!

the choke selonoid is under the hood and the red handle should be pointing back , in automactic position . down is manual open and foward is manual closed . to activate it in the automatic pos. , push in the ign. key , hold it as you crank the engine . this will prime fuel to the carbs . my 70hp needs the fast lever up a bit to start . i'm thinking i have bad gas , Hess , as she wont idle w/o it . good luck w/ yours.

Blacksting there is no primer solenoid on this model. It has the electric choke that is activated by the plunger pulling the choke linkage down.

I guess the OP hasn't been back. Oh well, we did our part I think. Btw, durban I read your post on the neon lights. I think that you have way too much time on your hands but some of the stuff you come up with is truly inspired! Cheers back at ya. I have to Holt on this thread.
