Re: 70 hp omc outboard

Maybeeeeee....a new ignition switch would solve the problem??

They do go bad VADER. Tumblers in the switch can do funny things. Or, the inner workings have failed.

Re: 70 hp omc outboard

The "co" in the model number denotes a 1985 model engine.

Re: 70 hp omc outboard

The T/T bracket is where the maunufacturer locates the engine i.d. plate .It indicates your engine to be an Evinrude long shaft with trim and tilt.I can't see the engine of course, but the 85' 70 is an inline three cylinder engine.Johnson/Evinrude are both OMC engines and are one in the same, except for paint scheme and decals.

Re: 70 hp omc outboard

There is a spring, but it will not shoot out. Pretty simple deal....Make a note of the position of the cap before you remove it...

Re: 70 hp omc outboard

well it was simple butt apparently there is somthing wrong with the solinoid it popped a crack in the new cap already after 2 starts can the engine be ran like this will it only leak when th choke is pushed or will it trickle as the engine runs. i have ordered a new solinoid from brp but this has spoiled my mem day plans.

Re: 70 hp omc outboard

Disconnect the tell tale hose and blow it out or run a piece of wire through it and through the fitting going through the pan. Can you hold your hand on the head when it's running for a few seconds or is it real hot? Is it spitting water out the 2 relief holes on the back top of the lower unit? Is that water real hot?
