Problem I am having is it wont come off.
Took the pin out under the carb and it wont drop any farther. By the book it should come right off.

ITs like the shift rod is being held in the drive.

And can tell the shaft is not stuck.

Do I need to turn the flywheel a bit or any special gear to have it in?
Does anyone know something I need to do?
In reverse now.

Thanks Mike

Re: 70 hp vro Drive wont come off

You sure you disconnected the shift linkage from under the carbs? If so, it's probably just the drive shaft is stuck in the crank. Give her a couple good yanks and see if she comes out. Grabbing the flywheel with both hands and rocking it back and forth (turning it left or right) may also free it up, but I'd put at least 1 bolt partially back in there if doing that, you don't want it to fall out of there and onto the concrete. Ouch.
I just pulled mine last week and it was the same way. I was dropping about 1/2" (motor was in N) and that was it. I gave the LU a few yanks with it tilted up and it popped free.
