So here's the story, Engine has new plugs, coil, rectifier, amplifier, fuel tank , fuel line and the carbs have been rebuilt. Boat ran perfect for two days straight. Low speeds and high speeds great. On the third day I found a second prop in the bow of the boat. This prop has larger blades and less pitch. With this prop the boat did not want to idle and halfway through the day it started to bog and eventually fouled the plugs.

After I got home I put the old prop back on and changed the plugs. Now It will start but dies very soon after and there is tons of fuel on the plugs. Also smokes way more than normal. I checked spark and it looks nice and blue. Also at the same time I changed from Evinrude oil to Yamaha oil?

Any Ideas?

One other quick question, Seems like it loaded up because of the new prop. Are my cyl. or intake full of fuel? Is there a way to clear them out>?

1st check your compression. should be over 100psi, but more important, within 10% of each other. then we will go on.

What plugs are you running?

I don't think your prop had anything to do with the problem, you could put the completeley wrong prop on it and it wouldn't do anything besides perform crappy when it was on there, it wouldn't cause any fouling in a short span of time, and it wouldn't affect idling at all.

How fresh is the fuel your running and what ratio did you mix the oil at? Doesn't matter if you ran Evinrude or Yamaha oil.

Also who rebuilt the carbs, were the floats adjusted right and was a link and synch done afterwards?

What gap are you running on your plugs?

carbs were rebuilt proffesionaly before I bought the boat. PLugs gap at .30

Running 50to1, and I use a premix bottle.

So, have you checked the points and cleaned the distributor cap? Have you checked the plug wires for continuity and arcing out? Are you sure the coil is good? Have you checked for a 7/16" spark off the coil wire? Those motors have a marginal ignition system at best and if it is not right up to snuff you will have plug fouling and missing. They fire great off the coil wire, but it gets lost going through the distributor.

I agree, the prop doesn't have a darned thing to do with it.
