Hi all
I'm doing some "remote" diagnostics for a friend who has a 703 control unit on a 1992 yammie 120. starts fine idles fine WOT all ok. Its the bit in the middle thats the problem. When pushing the throttle forward nothing happens for about three inches of forward movement and then it goes off like a bat out of hell. Pulling back, nothing happens for about a couple of inches and the engines backs down. The upshot of which its virtually impossible to maintain a mid throttle position. If you do get mid throttle the engine will either gently power up or down after a couple of bumps. I'm pretty certain its the control unit because of the slack but it doesn't feel stiff or clunky or "broke". Anybody seen anything like this before.

I had a look at the clymer manual for my suzuki remote hoping for some insperation and the parts diagramme is absolutly identical to the yammie unit. Were they made by the same company ??

Re: 703 control unit

Disconnect the throttle cable at the engine. Operate the throttle linkage on the engine while carefully examining it for loose or worn parts. If all is ok there and then push and pull the throttle cable. If there is any movement in or out with no movement of the throttle lever, the cable may be separating inside the sheath, the cable end inside the control box is loose, or there is wear inside the box. Replace the cable or repair the box as applicable.
